As far back as she can remember, LaTonya Richardson has wanted to be a writer. Her start came in Mrs. Edith Lambert’s sixth-grade class when she won a district-wide writing contest. Thanks to her mom, she still has that essay. During high school, she had her sights on writing for Hallmark greeting cards.

The telling a great story has the power to change, inspire, touch, and captivate. Children’s books have always been her favorite of all other genres. Children look at the world differently, and LaTonya is intrigued by their honesty, humor, and simple view of the world. She wants to tell stories that protect, and highlight those traits.

In 2009, LaTonya started blogging, writing about her life experiences, adventures, and her love of food. Blogging gave her a chance to tell different stories, make new friends and explore so much more. Today, she blogs every now and then at AlwaysLaTonya.com. Her love of children's books has brought her full circle. Writing for children has always been her passion.

LaTonya is married to her college sweetheart, Mr. Husband and they have six children and seven grandchildren. Her aim is to create books where they can see themselves and be proud of who they are. She’s an instructor in the Department of Multimedia Communications at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.  She also has a Master's in Journalism from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
